abstract: The objective of this study was to examine the US and EU orphan drug markets and identify trend and directions within the markets. To accomplish this, peer-reviewed articles, data from pertinent regulatory agencies (i.e. the Food and Drug Administration [FDA] and the European Medicine Agency [EMA]), regulatory proceedings and pharmaceutical industry interview insight were used in the analysis.
