abstract: The objectives of this dissertation areto present a review of different ways of conducting a health economic evaluation and presenting the results of cost-effectiveness analyses (CEAs). The dissertation also clarifies some crucial mis-interpretation of incremental net monetary benefit (INMB) and the average cost-effectiveness ratio (ACER) that are found in the text books and published articles in the field of health economics. Additionally, this dissertation reproduces the ICERs and produces the NMBs and INMBs of a published Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) analytical study, that has misleading and conflicting conclusions. Finally, this dissertation estimates the level of misleading that occurred because of that study and evaluate sthe expected monetary impact,as net loss, of improper implementation of the DPP on the healthcare system of the United States.
